The primary intent of this sterilizer is to provide rapid sterilization of medical instruments. It provides emergency sterilization of items contaminated during a surgical procedure, items having a unique value, items in limited supply, or items whose need was not foreseen. Its size permits it to be conveniently located in any operating theatre. This is an ideal sterilizer for use in surgi centers, clinics, dental offices, vetinarian offices etc.
Although primarily intended for the medical field this sterilizer is also ideal for use in any application that requires a rapid sterilization process. This includes tattoo parlors, and nail salons.
The construction of this sterilizer is primarily of stainless steel with brass and copper piping. It comprises a chamber with door closure, reservoir, fill tank, and boiler mounted within a frame type support chassis. A removable stainless steel cover provides access to the interior for servicing. The chamber, fill tank, boiler and piping are fitted with insulation material to reduce heat loss.
All necessary operating controls, indicator lamps, and pressure gauges are
located on the front panel. The boiler is protected by an overheat thermostat
and a 180 PSIG pressure relief valve. The chamber door is closed and locked by
means of a breech-lock mechanism. It is over-pressure protected by means of a 50
PSIG pressure relief valve.
This unit is a high-pressure steam sterilizer, as such, it is very important to
use distilled water. The water that can be purchased for use with steam
irons can also be used. This water has been processed to remove all of the salts
and minerals that are commonly found in all waters. Operation requires no
special piping, venting or drains.
Power requirements are 117 VAC @ 15 amps. This is the normal power outlet found
in any home or office.
With the pressure and temperatures attained along with its mode of operation,
sterilization is completely assured.
Each sterilizer has been reconditioned and is in excellent working condition.
Included with the machine is a stainless steel tray and shelf for use inside the
chamber. Each unit is supplied with an instruction manual.
These sterilizers are electro mechanical devices using solid-state components. The types of components used are readily available. The electrical design of this sterilizer is very tolerant to line voltage fluctuations and surges. This is not the case with the newer generation of sterilizers that are microprocessor based. If this unit is to be used in an area where electrical power is not reliable, then additional protection can be added to the "solid state" components. These units were originally manufactured by VERNITRON for use by the U.S. Military. Due to the type of materials used (stainless steel and copper) and the type of construction practices employed (Mil Spec) this sterilizer is virtually indestructible.
